About The Outdoorsy Type
In the Summer of 2020, after the first of the UK lockdowns, Helen and Nikki connected on Instagram, bonding over a love of the outdoors. Both feeling isolated during the pandemic, and desperate to find more adventure locally, they realised there were probably a lot of people in the same boat and feeling anxious about getting 'out there' on their own.
Over a stroll and coffee The Outdoorsy Type was born - a meet up group for a younger demographic; connecting those who love to walk, wild swim, share a pint in a country pub, camp, paddle board and generally be outside with like-minded people.
The first event, a sunset stroll took place on a few weeks later and was booked up within an hour. A second date was added which booked up instantly too and it became clear that there were lots of people looking to connect with others in this way. Meet-ups have created some firm friendships and more than 300 people in Suffolk have attended The Outdoorsy Type events.
Later in the year, and after attending three events Charlotte joined The Outdoorsy Type team.
The Outdoorsy Type is now a community of fun, friendly, active and outgoing individuals looking to make the most of the weekend.
The team hold an array of qualifications between them including First Aid for the Outdoors, Coastal Navigation and Water Safety.
Suffolk born & bred and 100% living for the weekend!
I grew up on a farm based just outside of Woodbridge, making the most of the outdoors from an early age. I work full time as an electrical & mechanical sales advisor whilst running The Outdoorsy Type in my spare time. Being outdoors and reconnecting with mother nature has really helped my mental health and refuelled my passion for looking after our environment. After starting The Outdoorsy Type with Helen, later joined by Charlotte it has really boosted my confidence and we have made some amazing friends. I look forward to planning more adventures and getting to know all of you.
Originally from Derbyshire, I've been living in Suffolk for 6 years.
I'm an Event Manager and Festival Producer and like to get outside to escape the stress of work. I'm a proper water baby and am absolutely hooked on wild swimming and have found it is the only thing that calms my busy brain.
I didn't know anyone when I first moved to the area and found it very difficult to meet people who were around the same age and into the same sort of things. The Outdoorsy Type is the friendship group that I wish had existed when I moved to Suffolk.
Born and bred in the Lake District I've always loved the outdoors.
I work full time in the Public Rights of Way and Access sector, writing a blog in my spare time to educate readers. I work as an Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champion and This Girl Can Ambassador to inspire and empower people to get outside in any way that suits them.
I moved to Suffolk in 2018 and found it hard to meet like minded people to head outdoors with which is why I joined The Outdoorsy Type events. I'm now very lucky to be part of the team organising these events and can't wait to get to know more of you as we explore Suffolk and beyond!
